Look and take a look again. Keep looking until you see the beauty of it. That’s the way the young Antwerp photographer Katrijn Van Giel pictures the world that surrounds her. In 2004 she qualified as a photographer at the Artesis College Antwerp. Katrijn worked as a trainee at the Italian Photostudio Ikon and at the Flemish quality newspaper De Standaard, which still publishes her work up to this day.
Katrijn also takes photographs for NRC Handelsblad, Klasse and Gentleman magazine. She won the Nikon Press Photo Award for Best Portrait 3 times, in 2007, 2008 and 2010. Apart from press photography Katrijn also creates commercial work, including advertisement photography for companies like Nivea, Pearl Opticiens and the advertising agancy TBWA. Since 2007 she also provides the portraits supporting the Sensoa HIV awarness campagnes since 2007. Last year Katrijn portrayed Women after 50, published by Davidsfonds.
